Shopify An-Post Shipping Rates
Installation Instructions
A guide to installing our free online service to get the latest up to date An Post shipping rates at your store checkout.
Important Notice
You are not installing any code or app we developed on your store. You are going to create a "private app" on your Shopify store. This app won't actually do anything other than give you access to an "api key" that you need to use our Shopify An Post Shipping Rates service.
Requirements
Before choosing to use our Shopify An Post Shipping Rates service you should make sure that all your products have valid weights.
Creating a Private App
In order to use the Shopify An Post Shipping Rates service , you’ll first need to create a private app in your Shopify store. Here’s how:
- Go to your Shopify Admin panel.
- Click on
Apps
. - Click on
App and sales channel settings
at the bottom of the dropdown. - Click the button
Develop apps
on the top right. - Under
Build legacy custom apps
click the buttonAllow legacy custom app development
- Click the button
Allow legacy custom app development
- Click the button
Create a legacy custom app
. - Under
App name
enter the text "Perfidious Albert An Post Shipping Rates". - The app developer can be any user in the dropdown.
- Click the button
Configure Admin API scopes
. - In the list
Admin API access scopes
find theShipping
section. - Tick the box for both
write_shipping
andread_shipping
. - Click the button
Save
- Click on the
API credentials
tab. - Make note of your
API key
andAPI secret key
. - Click the button
Install app
. - In the popup box click the button
Install
. - You should now see a box titled
Admin API access token
. Click the textReveal token once
- Make note of your
Admin API access token
.
Instruct Shopify to Use Our "Shopify An-Post Shipping Rates" Service (Option A)
If You Are Technical Feel Free To Do It The Hard Way :-). Otherwise skip this section.
Instruct Shopify to Use Our "Shopify An-Post Shipping Rates" Service (Option B)
If You Are Not Technical This is Easier! Its also easier even if you are! :-)
Add YOUR_SHOP_NAME
(you can get it from your admin url "YOUR_SHOP_NAME.myshopify.com") and YOUR_API_ACCESS_TOKEN
(saved in the last step above) in the boxes below and click the Send to Shopify
button.
Customise the Service as Required
Hopefully that all worked. Let's find out.
- Go to your Shopify Admin panel.
- Click on
Settings
. - Click on
Shipping and delivery
. - Click on
General shipping rates
. - You should now see
An Post Shipping Rates by Perfidious Albert"
under each Shipping zone. - Click the three dots ... to the right to edit the back-up rates, or to add a packaging cost.
Test the Service
Pretend you are a customer and create an order on your public website. Change the address and products to various options. Make sure the postage rates look right and that you are happy with everything.
