Who Are An-Post?
An-Post are the state-owned provider of postal services in Ireland. An-Post ship to over 200 countries, and if you have an An Post Advantage Card their rates for small parcels within the 26 counties of Ireland are hard to beat. For smaller retailers their rates to other destinations are probably on a par with any of the couriers, but once you start getting any volume you would be better shopping around.
Who Are Perfidious Albert
We are a Shopify agency in Ireland that provides conversion rate optimisation and technical development services to Shopify store owners. We are highly skilled technicians and when we see a problem we resolve it. This "Shopify Tools" website is a collection of resources we use to help our clients. You are welcome to use it also.
What is this Tool?
If you want to give customers around the world the option of buying from your store, then this tool automates the process of offering your customers the latest and most up to date An-Post shipping rates when they are at the checkout page for their cart.
How Does it Work?
We have collated and coded every packet and parcel shipping rate offered by An-Post and entered them all into a super fast Microsoft hosted database. We then built an API (software that other software can talk to) that allows Shopify to call to our database and request the correct An-Post rate in real time from your store check-out page. If you have a customer looking to ship 10 widgets to Paris, Shopify will call our API and it will reply with the correct cost of shipping 10 widgets to Paris by An-Post. You can choose to add an extra percentage or fixed cost to cover packaging and other expenses if you wish.
It is required that you provide the weight of every item in your store in order to get accurate rates. This tool will not interfere with free shipping offers or any other shipping services you provide. If you want to offer Fastway/DPD/DHL/UPS/etc and also An-Post then our tool will work fine. We strongly recommend that you set a back-up rate just in case our API does not return a rate for some reason (instructions on how to do that later).
When Were the Rates Last Updated?
The current An-Post shipping rates we use are from 27th February 2025 (and as of the time of writing in October 2025 are still the latest rates). We endeavour to update the tool with new or changed rates immediately after they are annoucned by An-Post.

The tool works and we will continue to make sure it works. If you become aware of an issue with the tool please tell us and we will resolve it. If you need specific support for your website or you want a custom version of this tool we can provide it under a commercial agreement. Please be aware that we offer no guarantee or individual support with this tool. You use it at your own risk and any errors the tool might make are your responsibility to resolve with your customers and within your business.
